The Adventure Awaits in Salt Lake City

Wide open spaces and Mother Natures natural beauty are the immediate highlights that come to mind when I think of visiting Utah. From The Mighty 5 National Parks, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyon lands, Capitol Reef and Zion and all points in-between, Utah is the place to be. However if you must zero in on one area to be in when visiting this great state, you would be wise to consider the fun that is waiting to be had in Salt Lake City.  The list of entertainment options seems to be endless.

When we first considered a taking a family trip, I conducted my research via friend suggestions and online search engines. I was surprised to see Salt Lake City, Utah came up more than a few times in my results.  There are a plethora of things to do while in Salt Lake City if you’re alone, in a group of friends, with colleagues or with your family. I’m the curious type and my family is always open for adventure so I explored many of the options available prior to arriving in Utah. 

First things first, in order to love this place you should start from the beginning, consider booking a Utah State Capitol tour. Learn about the history and how it became the forty-fifth state and has thrived since 1896.  Take a temple tour and learn about the thirty-five acre history that resides therein. The learning potential is endless. Besides gaining knowledge about the founding government of this great state, tours are an awesome way to start a vacation.  Key in on the city’s art or you’ll be sorry that you didn’t. Some of the world’s finest museums reside in Salt Lake City, so visit a few.  It’s such an attractive circuit you’ll have to be mindful to not spend all of your time there or in an academic mode or you’ll miss all of the other fun that is waiting in the wings. 

When was the last time you went rock climbing or hiking? Well that’s too long. Elevate your journey to new heights, reconnect with your outdoors side and schedule a mountain adventure tour, reach the top and admire the beautiful handwork of the creator. It’s a priceless experience.

Plan a day for the kids or they’ll stop wanting to vacation with you. I learned this the hard way, so you want to be sure to check out the malls, Lagoon amusement park and go-kart riding venues.

Consider exploring the city’s fine dining options in the evening, the American cuisine is first class in Salt Lake City. Pamper your pallet at establishments like Pago, Liberty Heights Fresh or Alamexo. Afterwards take in a comedy show and laugh off a few calories or opt for an evening of dancing to live bands at any of the many clubs venues in the city.

Salt Lake City, Utah has so much to offer that we had to plan our vacation out in two trips. It was a selfish move, but well worth it. Salt Lake City encompasses it all. You should certainly go and see for yourself and be sure to pack your adventurous clothing – because you’re going to need them.
