Utah Jazztet
Popular Utah Jazz Ensemble
The talented players in the Utah Jazztet have thrilled audiences all over the world with their smooth jazz and swing repertoire. As members of the internationally renowned Crescent Super Band and BYU’s Synthesis, they’ve shared the stage with a long list of jazz luminaries**.
Lead vocalist Suzy Lind’s talent was recognized by Down Beat Magazine in 2008 when they crowned her Best Female Vocalist in her division. Her smooth vocal delivery is impeccable, as are her occasional trumpet leads. She recently released her first CD of jazz standard tunes.

Never able to remain one-dimensional, saxophonist Curtis Woodbury also demonstrated his mastery of the violin by winning the Moscow International Jazz Festival on both instruments. Curtis’s first album, attempting to display a virtuosity unsurpassed in the realm of jazz violin, was released in 2010.
Drummer Jordan Rose is known for his ability to mold to any musical situation while adding his personal flare. He currently plays for many Utah bands, including: Synthesis, L.O.U.D., Utah Jazztet, The Kurt Reeder Trio, The BYU Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band, The BYU Philharmonic, The Russell Balli Quartet, and more. Jordan recently won Best College Drummer and Best College Musician at the 2010 Sacramento Traditional Youth Band Festival.

Bassist Aaron McMurray is equally versatile on both the upright and electric bass. He has extensive recording experience, including tracks for Microsoft’s XBox 360. He has toured internationally, performing for audiences in Europe, Mexico, Canada, and all over the continental U.S. He’s also made multiple musical television appearances, and appeared in performances with some of the biggest music names in the country, from Mark Hudson (producer/songwriter, Aerosmith, Ringo Starr), to Seth Riggs (vocal coach, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson), to Ben Wolfe (jazz bass at Juilliard, NYC; Harry Connick, Jr.) and countless others.
The Utah Jazztet’s ability to improvise gives new life to familiar tunes, and their fresh and innovative approach is consistently delightful to audiences of all ages.
